Group support

You are not alone. Like you, many people are preparing for, or healing after surgery.

Learn more about, or troubleshoot, different healing techniques during one of our regular group calls with Mayo Clinic staff, other patients, and caregivers.

The healing after surgery group calls bring together Mayo Clinic staff as well as other patients who are preparing for, or have recently had, surgery. The focus is on helping participants use and troubleshoot the healing techniques described in this website. They offer a welcoming environment to ask questions, learn from others, and adapt the non-medication healing techniques to your needs.

One important thing to note, the Mayo Clinic staff that facilitate the group calls are unable to address any medical or medication related concerns that you may have.

You can join the calls through Zoom (with or without video) or by phone. The calls last for 30 minutes and are available at the following times:

  • Mondays at 4:00pm Central/5:00pm Eastern
  • Wednesdays at 12:00pm Central/1:00pm Eastern
  • Fridays at 10:00am Central/11:00am Eastern

The healing after surgery group calls are for patients who are preparing for surgery or have recently had surgery. If you are interested in learning about techniques for managing pain or are already using these techniques and would like help with them, these calls are for you. These calls are also helpful for family members or other people who are helping you heal. The calls provide information that can help them help you.

Group calls begin with introductions and a review of the healing techniques (10-15 minutes). The remainder of the calls are for open-ended conversation and sharing experiences using non-medication healing techniques.

The group call sessions are not appropriate for addressing any medical or medication related concerns that you may have.

You can join the calls by phone or through Zoom on your computer, tablet, or mobile device. Detailed instructions for setting up Zoom are available here. Mayo Clinic uses Zoom technology, which protects your privacy and meets the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards that protect your information. Participants are asked not to share their full names in the call to preserve privacy.
